Missouri vs. Illinois - the Arch Rivalry takes on National Importance by Roger Reeves - August 28th, 2008

For twenty seven of the previous twenty eight Decembers, fans of the Universities of Illinois and Missouri have packed into downtown St. Louis to witness the “Braggin’ Rights” game between the two local college basketball teams. Enter Illinois vs Missouri, the college football edition. The “Arch Rivalry” helps kick off the upcoming college football season this Saturday and the game at the Edward Jones Dome was almost an immediate sellout. Both schools are top 20 no matter which rankings you look at, and Missouri is in most people’s top 5 with a legitimate chance at a National Championship. As much as Illinois has dominated the hardcourt in recent years with eight straight Braggin’ Right victories, Missouri has won all three Arch Rivalry meetings on the gridiron this decade.

The Flip Side to the Cardinals’ 2008 Bullpen Follies by Roger Reeves - August 22nd, 2008

A lot has been written this year, by me and many others, about the St. Louis Cardinals bullpen and their issues closing games this season. The Cards have a whopping 27 blown saves going into play this weekend against the Atlanta Braves, and fans have wondered all season how much better the team would be in the standings if the pen had held on to some of those games.
